As of April 1st, 2023 there have been major changes to the OB billing codes.
The blue cards will be revised, but in the meantime please note the following.
1.CSE code E111 no longer exists: DO NOT BILL E111
2.Neuraxial opioid code G222 no longer exists: Please use APS consult in lieu: A/C 215 and must be accompanied by APS admission note in Sunnycare. Audits will be undertaken to ensure this is being done.
Paper orders are unchanged. If you want to keep marking G222 on the cards, you can do so and the billing office will convert to A215, or write in the code.
(Recall that prefix “C” is for elective inpatients and prefix “A” is for all other cases.)
3. Please continue to be accurate regarding name of OB physician or midwife. An please continue to write delivery times for out-of-OR deliveries. Any information that is missing takes me time to look up, and every OB billing card is manually reviewed.
