Please note we are not permitting 2nd call requests anymore.
Should your requests exceed those permitted by the rules listed below ALL of your requests will be denied for that block.
1) Call requests will be done on a quarterly basis. You will have one week to add your requests but that does not guarantee they will be accepted.
- After the call schedule is made you will have approximately 1 week to look for any mistakes before it is finalized.
- After it's finalized it is up to YOU to arrange to make any changes that need to be made (no exceptions).
- All changes need to be sent in writing to Holly/Eva/Michelle.
2) Any overnight, weekend/holiday and 3-8th calls that are being given away (not swaps) need to be offered up to the group by letting Holly/Eva know. I.E. no under-the-table giveaways unless it is an emergency or extenuating circumstances.
3) You must be available for 1/2 of the weekends during each block.
- So please be aware of this when asking for off-call requests especially if you have vacation time booked.
4) You can only request 2x overnight 1st calls TOTAL in an academic year.
- if you started late or are away for an extended period of time, this will be prorated based on your working days.
- YOU CANNOT REQUEST 2nd CALLS or Ortho Trauma Room.
5) You cannot request any Saturday overnight call.
6) If you have approved vacation it will be added to the call schedule and you don't have to book it off-call (unless it is a last-minute vacation change and we were not made aware).
7) Please be fair and do not book a 3rd-8th evening call or overnight before every long weekend in an attempt to add a day to your holiday weekend.
8) You will have to work at least 2 long weekends in a year. So please do not book them all off-call.
9) Your call assignments will be prorated if you take substantially more than the average allotment of vacation for your partnership percentage. However, you will NOT receive more call if you take less vacation.
10) You are only permitted to request a Thursday 3rd-8th ONCE and a Thursday overnight call ONCE per 3 month block (as long as you haven't met your 2 request limit for the year). If you have Fridays as your scheduled day off then the rule applies to Wednesday.
